The maximum height of a garden office with a dual-pitched roof is allowed to be 4 metres. For any other roof type, it's 3 metres. Anything over this and you'll need planning permission. This may depend on the type of roof. If you have any concerns, we recommend contacting your local planning authority beforehand.
If you're running a business from your office then you may well need other permissions. The same goes for if you intend to use it as a permanent residential space. Of course. If your garden room isn't close enough to your house to connect to the mains water supply, it may be more expensive. But installing a bathroom in your garden office will be a fairly simple task for a trained plumber. Make sure that you adhere to Building Regulation standards.
