When is a 10x8 Log Cabin the Right Size?

When deciding on cabin size, the ideal building has enough interior space for your intended use without taking up too much room in your garden. It can sometimes be difficult to achieve the right balance, especially if you need your log cabin to perform lots of functions or if you have a small garden.

A 10 by 8 foot - or 3.0 by 2.5 metre - Log Cabin will contain one fairly spacious room that is best used by one or two people at a time. It is great for a small-to-medium sized cosy space with one purpose such as an outdoor office or additional living or reading room. However, these models are too small for entertaining or use as a multi-functional space. You can use it as a personal gym, but two people exercising at once may feel cramped.

What Size Garden Can Accommodate a 10x8ft Cabin?

Buying a cabin that fits nicely in your garden is just as important as buying one that suits your use requirements. The danger lies in choosing a building that’s too big and leaving your garden feeling cramped as a result. Measure out the total space of your garden before you buy to ensure that the fit is right.

Planning permission laws state that a garden building cannot take up more than 50% of the space of your garden. However, we recommend that it doesn’t take up more than around 35% of the existing space. Any more than that may leave your garden feeling too small and detracted of use.

Any garden with rough dimensions larger than 28x22ft (9 x 7 metres) should be able to comfortably accommodate a cabin of this size.

What Options Can I Choose for Your 3x2.5m Cabins?

Size doesn’t mean restrictions with our range of self-manufactured cabins. All our models have additional options such as pressure treatment, different cladding thicknesses, as well as additional bases and even guttering.

Some models have extra options like the choice of regular or uPVC framed windows. Every single building comes with a 10-year protective guarantee, with this extending to 15 years for pressure treated models.
