Each of our 10x6 sheds is built to provide robust, long-lasting storage for your garden. These narrow sheds are perfect for maximising long spaces that aren’t too wide, creating a fantastic storage environment with their accessible designs. With additional hooks, racks or shelving, these buildings can easily become well-equipped for storing tools or gardening equipment.
We have all types of materials available, so you can find a wooden, metal or plastic unit that suits your needs and budget. If you need help deciding which one is best for your situation, consult our garden sheds buying guide.
Is a 10x6 Shed Big Enough for Storage?
This does depend on what you’re planning to store inside the shed. A 10’x6’ or 6’x10’ shed is perfect for storing items that aren’t bulky - tools, garden items like pots, and equipment like rakes are ideal. Bikes and even lawnmowers can also be stored, as well as some small furniture items like cushions or chairs.
However, due to the narrow design of these sheds, big furniture items like tables are unlikely to fit. For models better suited for this, take a look at our 12x8 sheds.

There’s a wooden shed for almost any garden. Choose your size first, then decide what matters most — a particular roof type (apex or pent), cladding thickness, windowed or windowless. They're great for everyday storage, and a solid choice if you want a light workshop too.
If security and low maintenance are top of your list, a metal shed is a strong choice. Many designs include practical features like lockable points and sliding doors, and galvanised finishes help with long-term weather resistance. They come in a range of sizes to fit different storage needs, up to garage size.
Plastic sheds are a straightforward, low-maintenance option. Modern designs are durable, easy to live with, and come in a range of sizes and looks — ideal for keeping tools, cushions and garden kit stored away without any hard work.
Potting sheds are a practical alternative to a greenhouse if you want a sheltered gardening workspace that provides warmth for plants and still has room for tool storage.
All of our sheds are patio-friendly, perfect for placement on concrete, brick, or slabbed patio areas. As long as your patio is large enough for your chosen size of shed (we have some very large ones), you should be fine to commence with building.
Please bear in mind that if your patio is not completely level, an extra base may be required to give the shed a flat surface to stand on.
Want space to make or fix things? Workshops tend to be larger and sturdier, with layouts that suit benches, storage and moving equipment in and out easily. If you’re planning to spend time inside, it’s worth sizing up so it feels like a workspace rather than a storage box.
Keeping your bike safe has never been easier. Our collection of bike sheds for sale features both walk-in sheds and reduced-height mini sheds, each perfectly optimised for bike storage. With security features like padlock hoops often included, these are essential for any enthusiastic cyclist.
A corner shed is perfectly designed for staying out of the way, saving space and looking good in your garden, with diagonal-facing doors for easy access.
Perfect for side alleys and narrow gaps. Lean-to sheds sit neatly against a wall or fence, with a simple and stylish sloped roof.
Need storage on a tighter budget? This range focuses on the essentials — practical space, sensible specs, and strong value. Even our lowest-priced wooden sheds still come with our 10-year guarantee, so you don’t have to compromise on peace of mind.
If you need to budget carefully, our selection of cheap sheds is where you want to look.
FAQs
The only way a shed's square footage affects your development rights is the 50% rule: all the added buildings on your property together mustn't cover more than half of your home's original outdoor space, otherwise you'll need planning permission. A 10x6 is comfortably within that on most plots. The other conditions aren't size-related — it must sit behind the front of your house and stay within the height limits, including the 2.5m maximum if it's within 2 metres of a boundary (worth checking, as a 10x6 often goes right along a fence). Listed homes and conservation areas have extra rules; see our guide to shed planning permission.
A firm, level base across the full footprint — concrete, paving slabs, or a purpose-built timber or plastic grid base. Because a 10x6 is long but narrow, the common pitfall is a base that's level across the width but dips along its 10ft length, which can twist the frame and pull the door out of alignment. Get it level end to end, on a solid surface rather than bare soil or grass. Our guide to building a shed base covers the options.
Your 10x6 arrives flat-packed for assembly on site. A standard panel shed is built from several manageable panels per wall rather than full-length sections, so the parts are generally easy to carry through to the garden. Log cabin–style models are the exception: they use long, solid log boards that are more cumbersome to manoeuvre, especially around tight corners or through the house, so it's worth checking your access route for those. Delivery is free to most postcodes in England and Wales — our guide to how sheds are delivered explains what to expect, and you can check your postcode on our delivery page.
10x6 or 6x10? Choosing the Orientation
It's the same building turned to suit your plot. A 10x6 has its door on the longer 10ft side — a wide, shallow layout where the whole interior is within easy reach and nothing gets lost in a deep corner. A 6x10 turns it so the door is on the 6ft side, giving a narrow frontage and a deeper run back, which suits a slim gap you enter from one end. Either way it's only 6ft deep, which makes a 10x6 one of the easiest larger sheds to keep organised.
Made for Narrow and Awkward Spaces
The long, shallow footprint is what makes a 10x6 so useful: it runs neatly along a fence, boundary or path — or down the side of a house — where a squarer shed wouldn't fit, while still giving a generous 10ft of length inside. A pent roof works particularly well here, its single slope sitting low against a wall or fence and shedding rainwater to the back. Leave a small gap around the shed for airflow and maintenance.
Getting the Most From the Space
With only 6ft of depth, a 10x6 rewards storing upwards rather than back. Fit shelving, hooks and racks along the two long walls to keep tools, pots and equipment off the floor, and the centre stays clear for a mower or bikes. It's a layout built for regular, in-and-out use — you can see and reach everything from the doorway.
Materials and Other Sizes
A 10x6 works in any material: a wooden model you can paint to match the garden, or a low-maintenance metal or plastic store. If you need room for bigger furniture or a workbench, the extra depth of an 8x8 or 10x8 may suit you better; for a smaller footprint, see our small sheds.
