What are Wooden Garden Workshops?
Our extensive range of heavy duty garden workshops offer the perfect location for pursuing projects and hobbies which you may have otherwise not had the space to consider undertaking.
If you’re after a shed which can be used as a workshop, then these are the perfect garden buildings for you. With plenty of options, including a range of sizes and price points, we’re sure that we offer the perfect wooden garden workshop for you!
Why Go For a Garden Workshop?
Garden Buildings Direct offers more than just traditional sheds. When crafting our wooden garden shed designs, we always take into account varying tastes and styles. Our wooden workshops are made to do the job at a great and affordable price.
Many of our workshops also come with a choice of flooring, so if you are going to be using your wooden workshop for heavy-duty DIY you may want to consider a tongue and groove base. What’s great about our wooden workshops is that they come in a variety of different sizes meaning you can choose the one that is right for you. Take a look at our overlap cladding workshops for the budget range or get the best quality with our premium tongue and groove wooden workshops.
Why Buy Workshops From Us?
Our garden buildings are manufactured by skilled craftsmen with the outstanding experience and skills needed to construct robust and superior-strength wooden workshops which will withstand the worst weather that the UK can throw at it.
Our workshops are built using tongue and groove cladding, offering a level of structural rigidity and strength that other cladding types cannot.
Some of our workshops can also be purchased with the option of pressure-treatment, such as the BillyOh Pro Apex Log Cabin. Having your building pressure treated will give it fantastic protection against the UK’s worst weather, whilst also saving you time and money on maintenance in the long run.
Which Workshop is Best For You?
Our wooden garden workshops come in a range of shapes and styles, boasting several unique features. Depending on whether you’re after a more modern or traditional outdoor building, you can choose from pent and apex roofs. Pent roofs offer a stylish, contemporary design in the form of a gently sloping roof, while an apex roof allows you to explore a traditional garden building, with the added bonus of extra internal head space.
You can also choose between windowed and windowless wooden workshops with double doors. A windowed garden building provides natural lighting, which can be very beneficial if you plan to use your workshop for projects, whilst a windowless alternative offers extra security, as none of the workshop’s contents will be on display.
Wood Pressure Treatment Option
Not only do our wooden garden workshops come in wide range of sizes, they also feature loads of optional extras so you can customise your buying experience.
One of the most popular of these options for our quality workshops is pressure treatment. By introducing preservatives and chemicals to timber in a vacuum they can better penetrate the surface and protect the wood for longer.
Tongue and Groove Cladding
And if a variety of sizes wasn't enough, you can even customise your cladding thickness. For heavy duty workshops that are even more weather resistant and offer the maximum strength, upgrade to 28mm cladding on log cabin workshop.
And with windowed options with glazed windows, you can find a building that has that extra strength to stand up to even adverse weather conditions - depending on where you live. If you're housing valuable equipment, don't be caught short!
Installation Service & Assembly Service
We don't offer an installation service simply because our garden buildings are so easy to assemble. Simply clear and nominate your outdoor space and allow our delivery drivers to set your up with your pre-cut timber panels. Then follow the instruction provided with your order to have your workshop up in a matter of hours!
Planning Permission
Wooden workshops will fall under what's called 'permitted development' and won't require planning permission, so long as they:
- Are single-storey
- Aren't intended for permanent residential use
- Don't exceed a max eaves height of 2.5m
- Don't exceed an overall height of 4m (dual-pitched roof like an apex or -reverse apex) or 3m (any other type of roof, like a pent)
- Don't take up more than 50% of your outdoor space
- Aren't build past the front wall of your house
That's why our BillyOh workshops are built with these height measurements in mind.

Insulated garden workshops can allow for better protection of tools than a standard timber workshop as well as year-round use. The great thing about BillyOh wooden workshops is that they're easy to insulate.
Think about installing Celotex boards under the floor joists and roof panels or fitting insulation batts between wall studs.
Our tongue and groove buildings come with a 10-year guarantee against rot. We develop and manufacture our garden buildings here in the UK and we offer fast and free delivery. What more could you want?
Yes, we suggest that all garden buildings be built on level, dry ground with a suitable base like a timber sub-floor, Ecobase, or concrete slab.
