Log Cabin Garden Playhouses

At Garden Buildings Direct, our range of garden playhouses includes loads of different options for style and use, including traditional wooden wendy houses, single, two-storey, and even tower playhouses.

But aside from fully-customisable options for things like paint and trim colour and building size, we also offer a selection of different styles. Our log cabin playhouses, with lighter-coloured but no less high-quality European sourced timber, offer a modern twist on a contemporary building. And with fully EN71-compliant structures on offer, you can create a whole new world for your children to make memories in, all in the safety of your own garden.

Firstly, we recommend building any garden structure on a suitable base (i.e. not straight onto ground or lawn - even a playhouse). A suitable base can help ensure the longevity of your playhouse. Building on uneven ground can put uneven pressure on garden buildings causing warping, timber to crack, and even windows to shatter. Luckily, our log cabin playhouses are built using SAN shatterproof windows.

However, building even a playhouse on a suitable base will help to protect from rising damp which can cause rot and decay. Your options for a playhouse base include: concrete base, level pavers, a timber sub-frame or a gravel-filled plastic foundation base. Ultimately, a solid concrete base not much wider than your log cabin playhouse will always work best and offer you the most protection, but can be an expensive solution.

For more on the different types of base, check out our post on preparing your garden for a new outdoor building.

Due to the thicker-than-average cladding on our BillyOh log cabin playhouses you should be able to use them at your discretion year-round. The thicker the cladding option you choose and whether or not you choose to mildly insulate your playhouse (as it’s unlikely you’ll be able to or want to install much proper insulation) will increase its year-round usage life. Log cabin playhouses with a snug make an excellent solution with an area you can fill with cosy blankets and cushions.

Our BillyOh log cabin playhouses are delivered as pre-assembled tongue and groove panels. Simply enlist the help of a friend, gather some basic tools (including a drill, bits, level, and hammer) and follow the assembly instructions provided with your order and you can have your log cabin playhouse up in no time.
