If you’re looking to utilise the cabin only in the summer months or in the daytime, 19mm cladding will be sufficient. However, if you plan on using your building throughout the year and into the evening, 28mm would be ideal. Lastly, if you want to use your building for overnight use and to be snug no matter what time of day or the weather outside, a log cabin with 44mm cladding offers the best level of insulation.
This is especially useful, if not necessary if you live in an area with harsher weather and climate conditions. But don’t worry, thicker cladding doesn’t mean you’ll be too hot in the summertime. The more comprehensive your cladding options, the better it will be at regulating temperatures. That means keep it warm in winter and cool in summer.

Design

Roof
For our roof construction, we use 11mm interlocking tongue & groove boards as standard with roofing felt included to offer excellent runoff as well as a tight seal against water ingress.
Pent Log Cabin
This flatter style of roof, known as a pent roof, offers a more modern and contemporary silhouette. The flat roofs of log cabins have a shaded roof overhang and great runoff. Apex and Reverse Apex Cabins

Planning Permission
All the cabin kits that we sell are designed to be planning friendly and shouldn't require planning permission, so long as they aren't:
- Intended for permanent use as residential buildings.
- Larger than 50% of your garden.
- Built past the front wall of your house.
- Higher at the ridge height than 4m.
- Higher at the eaves height than 2.5m.
