One of our log cabin playhouses is part of a new style of long-lasting, robust and extremely durable playhouse buildings. Created with strong tongue and groove log cladding, they have a bigger profile than regular wooden buildings. The log cladding is thicker, making for a stronger overall building and a more comfortable interior thanks to the insulating qualities of extra-thick timber.
Cottage or Toddler Playhouse
These are smaller, usually one-story playhouses designed for toddlers and very young children. Ideal for youngsters who are still finding their feet, their simple yet beautiful cottage-style designs make for the ideal place for very young children to play and be imaginative. They’re also known as wendy houses.
Designed for older children who love to have friends around to play, or for big families, a two-storey playhouse does what it says on the tin - it has two floors. These buildings are larger to accommodate for the extra floor, but this trade-off allows children the chance to diversify the way they play and even host sleepover parties.
A playhouse with a tower opens up a whole new world of imagination and possibilities. Towers mean the playhouse is raised off the ground - like a tree house- while adding an extra balcony space to the front of the building. Suggested for kids who know how to climb.

That's why we've constructed each kid's wendy house with spray-treated timber as standard to treat our natural wood effectively until assembly. Our outdoor buildings are also built using panels with strong tongue and groove joints to ensure they stand the test of time.
We advise you to place outdoor playhouses on concrete bases rather than sitting directly on the earth, to avoid the floor succumbing to rising damp, mould, and rot. While our children's log cabins look traditional, they're built to the most modern standards of durability.
Children's Safety
At Garden Buildings Direct, every garden play house is constructed with care and safety in mind. Our products are tested to European Standards (EN71) for domestic use and built with toddlers in mind. This includes:
- Safety gaps around doors to prevent trapped fingers.
- Safety rails on all raised verandas.
- SAN-glazed plastic, shatterproof windows.
- Anti-slip ladders.
To promote safety, we suggest keeping the wooden playhouse outside and at least 2 metres clear from structures or any obstructions.
Bear in mind that our buildings are intended for toddlers, and so are not suitable for children aged under 36 months. This is because there may be small parts that could be potential choking hazards. In addition, they're not designed for older children; there is often a maximum user weight of 50kg. Finally, to ensure your children's complete safety, we highly recommend adult supervision while your children play in their cubby house.
