Apex Summerhouses

An apex or gable roof provides the classic garden building look that you’re familiar with. A popular choice due to the simple, traditional and attractive silhouette it creates, apex roofing also provides great drainage naturally split over both sides of the building. In a traditional apex design, like that of our Holly model, the door is located beneath the “face” of the roof.

We also offer the option of a reverse apex roof summerhouse, where the gable runs perpendicular to the front of the building meaning the entranceway is located at the lower edge of the roof. An apex roof is ideal if you want equal drainage and a classic look for your building. 

Pent Summerhouses

The modern counterpart is a Pent roof, as seen on our Bella model. This roof type slopes gently to one side, providing a more contemporary look. This design also forces all drainage water to one side of the building, which could be advantageous if you want to avoid water accumulating or draining to one side of the building. Just make sure that the door placement aligns with your plans!

Pressure-Treated Summerhouses

For an extra dose of durability and longevity, opt for us to pressure treat your building. Pressure treatment is a chemical process that injects chemical preservatives into the timber. These preservatives keep the wood healthier and stronger for longer, giving you a building that lasts longer.

With regular maintenance and applications of treatment your summerhouse can stay in great shape for longer. We also offer a 15-year guarantee on our pressure-treated buildings which provides ensured protection for longer.

Cheap Summerhouses

Sometimes budget comes first. When that’s the case, we have a cheaper selection of reliable buildings available at accessible prices. What are the Different Uses of a Summerhouse?

While they’re typically built for relaxation, you can utilise the space your building provides for a handful of other uses. The bright and open interior of a summerhouse gives you the freedom for all sorts of activities - here are a few examples:

• As a garden office space: the natural light makes them an ideal workspace.
• As a studio or hobby space: turn it into a dedicated place for your hobby to thrive.
• As a gym: with the doors open, you can create an airy gym space.

Will I Need Planning Permission?

In most cases, you won’t need planning permission to add one of our garden summer houses into your outdoor area. However, there are cases where you may need to apply. For more detailed information take a look at our planning permission guide and consult the government’s planning portal.

Can a Garden House Be Used All Year Round?

When equipped correctly, a garden house can be used throughout the year. As standard, most of our summer houses aren’t equipped to be used throughout the colder portions of the year. This is because they don’t have the necessary insulation to create a comfortable interior, meaning most of the heat will escape.

Improving the level of insulation can be done in a couple of ways. First, you can select a building with thicker cladding, like that found in our log cabins. A thicker barrier will slow down heat transfer and provide a basic level of insulation. However, adding a layer of dedicated insulation is a more reliable and effective way to keep it comfy indoors. What Door Options Do You Offer?

All buildings in our range are equipped with a double door which opens outwards to not take up valuable space inside. These double doors provide easy access inside and, when opened fully, let in lots of fresh air. All of them contain inset glazing so they blend into the outer facade.

Some models, like our Petra and Switch buildings, have doors with adaptable positioning where you can choose where the door is placed.

How Do I Maintain My Summerhouse?

Keeping your summerhouse in great shape requires some attention, even if you buy a pressure-treated model.

Be vigilant towards the timber of your new building as it will become susceptible to damage as time draws on. Applying layers of treatment regularly will keep the wood healthy and help to prevent water damage. Believe it or not, a coat of wood paint can provide an additional layer of protection for your building - so it’s worth getting colourful if you have the chance!
