A friend of mine the other night, when I tried to explain for the umpteenth time what I do for the garden building manufacturer that I work for, told me that, ‘A shed’s a shed and they all look the same’. I begged to differ to which he replied, ‘Go on then... explain yourself’. So I tried.
Traditionally the idea of a garden shed would conjure up the typical apex garden shed. This is a standard building, does the job and most people are happy with it. The reason being is that it complements the shape of your house and can be sized accordingly to fit the purpose you bought it for.
Awkward garden shapes and reduced space can mean a corner shed would fit the bill or a pent shed would be more appropriate when access is required from the front of the shed and not in the gable ends as occurs in the apex.
This brought me on to the subject of ‘the future of sheds’, to which my friend groaned, ‘What... there’s more?’
Just like with most things in life fashion now plays it’s part in the popularity of most products that people buy, so choice is very important in satisfying your customers as they want to be a bit different and stand out from the crowd. We’ve found that people who buy sheds are no different. Some want an alternative to the standard shed shape or require a new shed for a variety of different reasons other than to store their gardening equipment in.
This has lead to our superb range of garden sheds growing daily, alright maybe not daily, but our new designs are now creating ‘a want’ for different styles of traditional garden buildings. Because of this the apex shed has now evolved and a prime example is the BillyOh Park ‘Stable Door’ Tongue and Groove Apex.
This 8’ x 6’ apex shed has had its dimensions reversed so it is now wider than it is deep and the windows are now placed either side of the stable door instead of down one side bringing the focus of attention to the front gable.
So no... not all sheds look the same. To which my friend said, ‘I see your point, but my shed’s metal’, and I replied ‘Now... that’s a whole different conversation.’
